The National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) is a corporate membership program that works to support American minority-owned businesses through corporate networking opportunities and educational programming.
In order to become NMSDC certified, a business must be for-profit, located in the United States, and owned by American citizens. The business must also be at least 51% owned, managed, and controlled by group members who are “at least 25% Asian-Indian, Asian-Pacific, Black, Hispanic or Native American.” The NMSDC verifies a business’s eligibility via reviews, screening interviews, and site visits.
FCL is 100% minority American-owned and gained NMSDC certification in 2016.
The NMSDC refers to and introduces its certified minority members to corporate members looking to work with other minority-owned businesses. Its educational offerings have included management training, as well as best practice seminars.
